ABOUT THE GRE TEST

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardised test that is accepted for admission to various disciplines at many graduate and business schools across the globe. GRE Test is conducted by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), a US based organisation. Aspirants who are interested in pursuing a master’s degree, specialised master’s course, MBA or doctoral degree can sit for the GRE Test. In addition to the GRE revised general test, there are seven GRE subjects tests that evaluate candidates’ knowledge in their respective field. The GRE Test  is available at about 700 test centers in more than 160 countries. It is available both in computer-based format and paper-based one. In India, GRE 2016 is offered only in the computer based format administered at Prometric testing centers.

Conducting Body: Educational Testing Service (ETS)

GRE Test Eligibility : There is no specific eligibility criterion for taking GRE Test 2016. Aspirants can apply for the test irrespective of age and qualification. However, the candidate has to fulfill the admission criteria for individual institutes where he/she is applying. Since, GRE is a postgraduate test, generally, students who have cleared their undergraduation opt for the examination for entry into Masters or Phd courses abroad, especially, USA.

GRE Test pattern The  GRE  computer-based test is available in India. The total duration of the test is 3 hours 40 minutes. There are six sections and a 10-minute break is given after the third section during the GRE test .
